How to forecast the value of an iOS app.

I'm doing work for a company and I want to be able to get a rough, yet reasonable, estimate of sales so I can decide how to get paid. I do have some background information on the company itself and can get more easily.

What statistics should I look at, how should I use that in my estimate, and what tools should I use?
