I want to stop at iTunes 10....forever. I already went into iTunes preferences and unmarked "automatically check for updates"

Nevertheless, whenever my weekly OS X upadtes schedule starts, OS X asks me if I want to update iTunes to version 11. The only option I have is "Not Now". How do I select NEVER?

The only solution I could think off is to entirelly stops Opeartional System updates. I went into System Preferences and unchecked automatical software update. I posted pics bellow to illustrate the problem.

How do I tell my OS X to NEVER upgrade iTunes, but keep upgrading the rest?

You can hide individual updates. Select it, go to the Update menu, and choose Hide Selected Update.

@LeandrodaFL, this works for you because you have Snow leopard installed.
What about OS X Mountain Lion users?
I can't see this option there. I'm in 10.8.2

I dunno, as I only own Snow Leopard. But I can tell you that is probably a similar process. The correct terminology was "ignore update.."

Heres what you should do/look for:

1)Perform a "Software Update"

2)Select the iTunes 11 update

3)Select "Ignore Update" (Its found on the upper left menu)

itunes will never again update.

thx, i was looking for a friend with a new MBP user to prevent itunes 11 to install without blocking the other updates.
I have v.11 already installed.
We are both DJ's and manage our music in iTunes.
Can you imagine the itunes programmers have removed the option 'show duplicates'?

Why on earth did the have to...

apple is going downhill on the Mac since they invented iOS. The exposé/spaces fiasco and now itunes. Im actually scared for the future.

If you want to donwgrade to iTunes 10, it is possible, I've done it:

thx for the link. i'm thinking about downgrading.
for the moment i'll use dupin lite a while.

if you want to stop an app from updating you may edit the bundle's info.plist and change the version to a higher (or equal to) the newest. I am not 100% sure that this works with system apps but it should.

This works a treat. Just find and replace all instances of 10.7 for e.g. 11.7 et voila. Thanks very much, would never have thought of that!
