X Xgm541 macrumors 65816 Original poster May 3, 2011 1,098 818 May 14, 2011 #1 So i have an NTFS external hard drive, 1tb capacity. Problem is mac wont let me write to NTFS. How do i format it so that mac lets me write to it. I also want to be able to use it on my windows xp box. thanks.

O old-wiz macrumors G3 Mar 26, 2008 8,331 228 West Suburban Boston Ma May 14, 2011 #2 If you format it to HFS apple format then your windows machine won't be able to read it without extra software, which I believe is MacDrive. For NTFS on the Mac there are drivers for OSx to write to NTFS.
