Hello,

I hope someone knows how to solve this as I can't seem to find a solution.
I'm unable to format or erase an USB disk that is brand new (came with the car 1 month ago)

Anyone knows what I can try?

I tried disk utility and also terminal command and I keep getting errors. (see pics)

Any ideas, pls?

I think you're choosing the wrong type of format for the drive's partition map. All of the Apple formats require a GUID partition map. Tesla probably has something else. The right type of formatting for your drive is MS_DOS (FAT). Try that and it will probably work.

I have tried all the formats but its still the same issue :(

Even in the car it doesn't work.

There's also the possibility that the Tesla flashdrive has some kind of "protected partition" that cannot be erased on it.

Back when USB flashdrives were a relatively new thing, some came that way.

Something else to try:
Try ALL possible erase options in disk utility. Mac formats, PC formats, etc.
If one works, use that.
Then you can probably RE-erase the drive into the format you want.

If nothing else works, try erasing the drive on a PC.

yeah, gave it to a friend with PC and asked if he can do it otherwise I'll just go to Tesla and ask for a new one as it should still be under warranty :)
