Seriously. There has to be a way to get my hands on one without having to buy a Beats Pill or an iMac Pro.

The cables exist in the wild, so it should not be this awkward to get something that people have been asking for for years.

Just get one from Anker or AmazonBasics or all the other options.

I would, but it’s gotta be an official lead.

I’m using it with Car Play and it’s extremely picky with what lead it works with. Basically the only lead that’s worked has been the one that came with my phone.

I use carplay with an Anker Cable, works great. I’m not sure but there might be a problem with your CarPlay unit

Black Amazon Basics cord works fine with my CarPlay.
I’ll bear this in mind.

Tbh, the head unit hasnt actually arrived yet and I’m using other people’s experience of “only the official lead worked”. I’ve got a few third party leads I can try, so hopefully the unit isn’t that fussy.

Ain’t this the truth!! My 18 Honda when using dynex cable only likes it one direction. I said screw it and went back to using the basic white cable that will get dirty.

Amazon Basics and Anker are MFI certified cables and therefore "Official"

Get ones that are MFI Certified and you should be fine. The ones that you will have trouble with are the ones that are cheap Chinese knock offs.
