So i have a mac book pro with leopard on it. I bought a external cd/dvd player in order to link the mini disk to the computer. Problem is they all come up as blank and wont work. They are sonny dvd-r mini disks. It was a dumb camera to buy at the time when I first bought my computer but owell. Does anyone know anything I can do to get these things to play?

Did you finalise the DVD inside the Sony camcorder?
Do you still have that camera, and if so, what exact model is it?

Btw, MiniDiscs are this:

They are those small 8 cm DVDs, shown on the right side, as bolded above:

What about my first question about having them finalised on your Sony camcorder?
And as you still seem to have that cam, insert the DVD into it and see, if they play in there. Then connect the camcorder via USB to your Mac and open iMovie and see, if you can import the footage.
Importing directly from the DVD will be much more effort, and cost an additional 20 USD.

Finalising means the following:
A DVD that is used to record video on can not be played back by standard video DVD players before finalising it, meaning writing an index of where the files are and what is actually in it.

From the specs, it seems, the camcorder does not have a USB port.

Here is that manual for that camcorder, look at page 30 ff. and page 44 ff..
Manuals of complicated devices, be it technological or manual or just electric, are always a good source of information and make you understand the device better and thus let you handle it better.
