or spend a few $ on a rebel sim.

They'd need the phone first, which is what I think the OP was asking where to get...
The reason the iPhones are so expensive on eBay is because it's not possible to buy them without a contract in most of the world, and where they are available "off contract" and unlocked, they're expensive.

I have heard I can buy an iphone correctly(buy and activate) then pay the ETF after a certain amount of days then I can keep the phone, but the final fees paid is like 600(worth it).

True or false?

Mostly true
31 days to keep the phone
pay the ETF of $175 +phone purchase price + prorated bills
The Rebel sim kit is 32GBP so converting that is like $56 USD roughly(they take Paypal) they do have cheaper options i think the lowest is like $27 USD

? is since they crippled the 3g part why unlock, its only gonna work @ edge speeds on T-mo.
I'd get a 1st gen which is freely unlocked and IMHO a better phone at this point.
