Anyone know how to get around the school's firewall? I can't seem to connect to any servers on Acquisition and none of the torrents will work.

How do you figure out which port to use in order to let my downloads work again?

Thanks

The only way I've found to do it is to make all those apps run over a different port thats not blocked, but from what I understand, you need an external server to connect to in order to tunnel like that. There are some services out there but nothing free. All of them I've seen tunnel over port 80.

Cool, hopefully you get nailed like one of the last people we helped. :p

We didn't help out too well since he got caught.

Wow. What do you suppose your school will do to you if they find out you've bypassed their firewall? Do you suppose they have a firewall up and are blocking specific ports for, I don't know, a REASON?

dang, you guys are being more harsh than I thought

this sucks coming from a 5mbit cable line... now on a shared campus connection that can't be used with bit torrent :(

It's not like I'm stealing apps... just downloading my weekly family guy episodes... and 24 in January :)

I hear those shows are self-manufactured, they just appear each week on television, which is great because it means we don't have to pay anyone to make them.

I'm sure I'm not the only one here who downloads the episodes before buying the DVD...

might as well close this thread
