i bought a used t-mobile iphone 5. i want to use straight talk on this phone. i bought a byop activation kit threw straight talk and it comes with 4 sim cards. 2 for t-moble and 2 for at&t. the t-mobile sim cards are to big to use on this phone the at&t sim cards are the right size. so im going to use the at&t i followed the instructions on the activation card and installed the new nano at&t sim card activated the account and activated the first month. i still have no service. do i need to unlock this phone to use at&t or do i need to buy a t-mobile sim card that will work on this phone

T-Mobile unlocked my iPhone 5 after I called and asked them to do so. Got the straight talk micro SIM card package, and cut it to to fit the nano sim tray using a template that I googled. The price/talk-text-data package are the same, but coverage is so much better than with T-Mobile.

do i need to have phone unlocked to use it with straight talks t-mobile sim card.
