I've tried a few things but haven't been successful with any. What is the best free way to get my Hotmail account to work in Mail? (I know Hotmail is terrible. I'm trying to consolidate all my accounts into my @me.com account)

Thanks

Can you autoforward all the email going from your Hotmail account to your home account?

Getting Hotmail to work with Mail is a very sketchy proposition
Some claim to have it working OK
Most say it is erratic at best or doesn't work at all

Good luck... many either switch to Gmail or some other service
Or they give up altogether

If I recall, you can only forward to another Hotmail account, not another service :(

That's if you have a paid subscription. It also gives a link for how to get it to work for free, but I've tried that, and couldn't get it to work...and there seemed to be some translation problems with the program.

Hmm... you're right. I tried it and no dice.

It looks... like... they tried to port it with CIDER?! The .mailbundle folder looks like a ripped-apart version of the Cider shell!

You could get a GMX email address which can grab emails from your Hotmail account. Then you set it to forward to Mail.

There's a plugin I use to check my Hotmail in Mail.
Go here: http://blog.danielparnell.com/?p=53
There's a link to his download page with the plugin. It works like a charm and comes with a PDF to tell you how to use it. And it's free.

Perfect! Thank you so much. But is there any way that the Junk E-mail could go into the inbox? It created a Junk E-mail folder under a Hotmail tab seperate from the Mailbox tab (but the hotmail mailbox is in the mailbox tab)

Thanks

You can use izymail (paid) which I used to use until I found macfreepops.

The only problem is its a bit iffy lately. After this new hotmail "upgrade" mail no longer marks the mail in hotmail as read anymore; now when you log in to hotmail, all of your email will be unread. A minor issue, but an annoyance none the less.
