how to get itunes currently on external to show on MBP

Hello there.
Previously, on my iMac set up I had all my itunes data stored on an external HD. I now have this ext HD connected to a Time Capsule. I have also acquired a MBP and want to keep itunes data managed the same way but be able to see the full content when accessing the itunes app on my MPB.
That sound confusing. Can I keep all my data on the external which is now connected to T/Capsule and access it via my MBP
Please assist - Thanks
