How to get iTunes purchased music downloaded on new iPhone

I have automatic downloads turned on and am logged in with the iTunes account through with I purchased music. Nothing is downloading to my phone. What am I missing to get all of my purchased music downloaded to my phone? Obviously, I don't want to download them individually
, which I see how to do.

Go to the iTunes Store and the purchased tab. Tap to download what you want. Automatic downloads only downloads newly purchased songs.
