How do I get my Mac and iPhone sync with iMessage. I prefer my Mac to use my iPhone's number. I know that this feature was added in the latest Mac update (OS X 10.8.2), but how do I active this feature?

all you should have to do is update OSX to 10.8.2 and then open messages and it should pick up your phone number from your apple id.
open messages on your mac and and press command + comma, the go to accounts and select your imessages account, should be your apple id!
the check all the boxes under: "you can be reached for messages at:"
