Hey,

I need help in setting up my Touch with my home e-mail account, which is provided by BT.

I've typed the correct information in, but every time is comes back with an error message:

"Cannot Get Mail: The connection to the server 'mail.btinternet.com' failed."

I've been getting this same message since yesterday, have i set it up wrong?

Thanks for any help and advice.

I just used the Yahoo option in add account and it works fine for me.
my email address is an [username]@btinternet.com which uses BT Yahoo!

Just remember to change it from @yahoo.com to @btinternet.com.
Give it a try!

Theres an option in itunes to sync mail from your computer to the touch, have you tryed that, i did it and just had to put my password in for it to work.

Ok...

I deleted the account which I had manually added in the Touch, and then used the Sync Email Account options in iTunes.

The iPod Touch still won't send any e-mail using BT.

It works fine with my MobileMe account, and its getting e-mail from both, but just a problem when sending using my BT Account.

Any idea of what is causing this problem?

Anyone else using BT been able to get sending e-mail workings?

Hey,

I've typed the correct information in, but every time is comes back with an error message:

"Cannot Get Mail: The connection to the server 'mail.btinternet.com' failed."

Did you enter your full email address in the "Incoming Mail Server User Name" field or just the bit before the @? This can be a potential problem. It's far more likely that the problem is something to do with the information you've entered rather than with the BT servers. Just a thought, I'm no expert.
