How to get my Firefox 2 bookmarks onto Firefox 3

So I went ahead and installed firefox 3 but forgot to save my firefox 2 bookmarks before installing. I then replaced FF2 in my app folder with FF3.
So now my bookmarks are the ones that were last saved.I have (had) many more bookmarks but didn't save them to file. I've read here about restoring etc but I don't know if I can get my most recent settings back that I was using on FF2. It says to backup before installing FF3 which I haven't done, but surely my bookmarks index is still on my mac somewhere?

Anyone have any suggestions?

Solved this one myself
Had to rename a couple of preference files.
