How to get my macbook pro info (circa 2007, Tiger) to my new mac mini?

upon start up of the new mac mini (installation) when trying to transfer my macbook pro over through a firewire 800; it gave me an error due to the old mac not being OS X.

So, how can I go about getting the macbook pro data? (did I mention the screen is black?)

I at first thought it was the Nvidia card that "malfunctioned", that were "recalled" and paid for repair. (but it is not)

So Target Disk Mode does not work?
If that is the case, you need to extract the HDD and put into an enclosure for 2.5" S-ATA HDDs, either USB or Firewire or both.

try Migration Assistant. Its in Applications>Utilities
