I love IMAP gmail, tried exchange gmail, and it was a hog .. I get lots of emails.

Is it possible, besides using something like pushmail (app), to get gmail to push notifications ONLY to my phone, that I have a new email?

Why not just set it up to go straight to your inbox on your phone?

It does, but I am not on my phone 24/7, so I want it to pop up to alert me that I just got an email.

I also do not want to run fetch, that would be worse battery life then exchange/push directly.

afaik there is no other way than those costy apps.
Also, if you have IM+ Messenger, theres also a notificationsystem for gmail implied.
Otherwise you can try some pushapps.
I would rather invest into a reliable exchange account or into mobileme. Im mailaddicted, and those apps werent realiable enough for me. Mobileme is just great, mails allways come in instantly, AND theyre already loaded when i open the mailapp.

pushmail app works, I just was wondering if there was something better out, apparently not, LOL.
