I want my desktop to be nice and clean but the damn Macintosh HD icon is bugging the **** out of me.

I've looked around a bit and people say to go into the Finder tab at the top of the screen, but there isn't one there.

I'm running Mac Yosemite 10.10.1. I have 2 updates but they're for iPhoto and iMovie.

Solutions appreciated, thank you!

Go to the Finder, then to the "Finder" menu, then to "Preferences", then you can uncheck whatever it is that you don't want to be visible.

1. Click the Finder icon in the Dock so that the Finder window becomes active.

2. From the menu bar, click Finder > Preferences and then select the General tab.

3. Deselect "Hard disks".

It worked!! Thank you!!
