You know how Apple announced that you could get the iWork suite and some other goodies with the purchase of a new iPhone and it's supposed to just pop up for free when you setup your new iPhone?

Well I purchased a new iPhone, and the screen with the free apps did come up, but I didn't want to download them at the time because I was not connected to a Wi-Fi network. It's a couple days later.

Well, how do I get those apps?

Just go to the app store. They're marked as free now.

Also, off subject a bit, but I factory reset an iPad (4th gen) at work to get it set up for a new manager. It's already been used for months by someone else, but when I signed in to their AppleID on it they were offered the free apps. Surprised me - I thought it was strictly new devices only.

They simply showed up as "free" in the App Store for me.
Looks like they're marked as being owned by me now - I also installed them for free on my iPad.
