Hi I want to set up all folders and subfolders to look a particular way. In windows this is pretty easy to accomplish, by setting up a folder the way you want it and then doing apply to all.

Right now my name Tab of the folder takes up all the space. My other three tabs (size, date created, date modified) all get squished to the side and often out of view. Everytime I shrink down the "name tab" it goes back to its original size on reopening. I have set up top folders several times and gone to view options and clicked use as default, but still no go. Any suggestions? I am running 10.9.5.

Thanks.

To set the folder view.
Open a folder. Right click an empty space. Show view options. Set it up as you wish. Eg always open in list view. Or whatever. Close that panel. I am not sure what use as defaults will do. Try it.
