Can I format it and install lion on it? I will not log in with my apple Id when she is in possession of it.

If your giving it to your sister just wipe out the entire drive and reinstall Lion new.

G gentlefury macrumors 68030 Jul 21, 2011 2,889 68 Los Angeles, CA Jul 22, 2011 #3 restart, hold down alt key. Select Restore HD, tell it to reinstall lion. It will be a fresh install with nothing on it. I think you can also restart and hold cmd+r and it should just go right into the restore HD
