How to go to bottom of Mail after search?

Ok seriously I can't be the only one annoyed by this. Say you are in mail and started a search. Found your email and did some action on it (replied etc). Now you want to go back to your normal mode. You have to clear the search box, and then scroll to the bottom of the mail list (which can be forever if you were viewing something from the past) and then select the most bottom email.

Is there a quicker way to go to the bottom? Any keyboard shortcuts??
