I'm trying to find ways that my 95 yo dad can do video calls. He has an iMac but his hand control is very bad but sometimes he does ok with his shakes voice. His long term care facility can't let us or assistants in due to COVID-19.

I am finally able to get into his iMac with Teamviewer (which is timing out after 5 min) and RemotePC. I set up his FaceTime and added my siblings iPhones in and HOPEFULLY he'll get the hang of using FaceTime as a verb like 'call' and be able to call us. We also did a Zoom so I could Remote Desktop in and call him into Zoom which worked great.

I not sure how to help him though ANSWER a FaceTime call. Can Siri help with that?
I found a 2011 article that showed how to do a terminal command to auto answer.

I'd appreciate your help if you have a solution and/or other ideas to help him stay connected.

Hey, does VoiceOver work for Mac? I would try giving Apple a call maybe they have a solution or some software that can control the Mac? Have you checked out the accessibility options on the macOS, maybe there is something there.

Maybe someone else can hopefully have a solution on here.

I wish you and your family well, its nice to know your grandad is learning how to use all these new technologies!

Another Idea:
Have you tried a wired / bluetooth headset? When the call rings, he can simply press the button which hopefully acts as 'answering call'?
