In Windows MS Outlook, while creating a numbered list, I just used shift+enter to enter one or more lines within the same number and then only hit enter once I needed a new number. In this way, I could have many paragraphs within the same number and also blank lines between two numbers. But it doesn't work in Apple mail or Entourage.

Please advise if this feature is available on Apple Mail or Entourage.

Thank you.

Apple Mail > New message > Format > Lists.

return/enter adds another number to the list
control return/enter adds another line to the same number
repeat control return/enter for more blank or typed lines to the same number

The problem with this is that Entourage users see additional numbered or bulleted lines where you intended to have blank space.

Personally, I use Mail.app for everything, but my organization is deeply invested in Microsoft software that I have to remember what my recipient will see.

What's funny is that Entourage 08 does not render the HTML formatting properly, but Outlook 07 does. The same is also true of Right to Left writing direction. This is entirely due to Entourage's HTML rendering and illustrates how MS is consistently inconsistent.
