My dock takes up too much space on my mbp15. I’ve made it as small as i can while still being able to see the icons, but there’s a lot of wasted space on the right and left sides of the doc. About 5-10% of the vertical screen space is wasted

Is there a way to have a window (browser) take up the full screen, while still showing the dock? I don’t want to autohide it, just want the window the stretch across the whole screen since i don’t need to see the bottom edge of my desktop while in other apps...

Try putting the dock on the left or right side of your desktop. Since screens are rectangular, there's a lot more room along the side than the bottom.

I'm not sure I understand the question. You can position practically any window anywhere on the screen, including underlapping the dock. You can take many windows, including Safari windows, fullscreen by clicking the green button in their toolbars or choosing the right menu command. In System Preferences > Dock, you can position the dock on the left or right, or choose to hide it when it's inactive.

Hide the dock, resize the window to where the dock would be, and un-hide the dock. It should stay behind the dock then.

He wants window to be maximized, not just resized manually.

I just did it, but I cannot replicate it. I opened IDE, and used multiple desktops, I was switching back and forth, and dock got stuck in IDE, I could write as much as I want. Once I choosed "Open File" from menu bar, dock disappeared.

This probably is a bug. I will see if I can get it to work again, and try to instruct you..
[doublepost=1545989071][/doublepost]OK, tried it again, this time with Safari.

It worked, but only once. When I opened Preferences, it was gone. But I could go to any website I want, do anything, and dock stayed there.

Then I tried to do the same, switch back and forth from Desktop to maximized window in Mission Control, and it wouldn't work.

This is just a bug, that is not reliable.
