Simple question: how does one hide and show the ruler in Word 2011. ?

In Word 2008 it was View > Ruler. This is missing in Word 2011.

I am curious why this is not working for you (it does for me).

1. Open Word
2. In The Menu Bar/View
3. Click on "Ruler"

Is "ruler" greyed out or not even appear?

A partial screenshot is attached. I can't see any Ruler item in the View menu.

Just to reiterate, it's Word 2011 which has freshly been installed on a machine that had Office 2008 installed.

Strange. Here's mine on a machine which never had any other version of Word installed.

Thanks Microsoft. I so like these mysteries...

Just like the one I had earlier where Word refused to select a word when I double-clicked on it... Now it does.

I suppose I'll need to reboot my machine. Swear a few magical incantations and hope that it'll work:-(

Word 2011 enables the ruler in Draft and Print Layout views, but not in either Web Layout or Outline view.

Thanks!

This did the trick for me! Thanks, dude or dudette for making the Internet a little better by helping!
