I'm in the market for a used iPad 2 to use at my shop as a POS system (using Square Register). I'd like to try to get the second iteration of the iPad 2 that was constructed using the 32nm chip. Is there a way to identify this using the model #?

Nope--same model number (A1395) and part number (MC769LL/A).

But you can enter the serial number here: http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html

That should give you an idea of when it was made. You're looking for April 2012 and after. Of course, if it's not a 16GB Wifi model, then it's definitely not an iPad2,4 (i.e., 2012 32nm version). If you're planning on using it as a register, wouldn't it be plugged in at the counter all the time like a regular cash register anyway? Even if you unplug it to carry around the store for customers several times a day, I'd imagine it would spend most of its time in a dock.

according to that site, the refurbished ipad 2 16gb 3G model that I just purchased from Apple was manufactured the week of April 15, 2012.

Thanks for your help.
