So I want to buy a secondhand mbp from a guy I got in contact with via an ebay-like site. The guys sounds not to technical and says it is the basic 2009 mbp model but, yeah, he says... The only thing I know for sure is that is a 13 inch mbp aluminum unibody

I guess it is this one but I am not sure: http://www.everymac.com/systems/app...3-mid-2009-sd-firewire-800-unibody-specs.html

He already got rid of the hard disk so the About This Mac thing will not help...
Same for the original box.

Any ideas how I can quickly identify the mbp on the spot when buying?
What about plugging in a usb with an OS install on it? Is there any way I can reach the system profiler from an install stick?
