How to import 2 channel audio into iMovie ?

Hi - We have a 40 min band performance captured on SP Digital Beta which had 2 channel audio, one from the camera mic and the other a feed from the sound desk. The camera mic channel has all the crowd noise and the audio line from the desk is nice and clean. We had the video & audio copied to mini DV tape and are now trying to import the video and 2 channels of audio into iMovie 4.0.1. When we import the footage from the mini DV we only seem to be getting the audio from the camera mic along with the video footage. We watch to capture 2 channel audio independently using iMovie 4.0.1 from mini DV tape over fire wire. Then we will be able to play around with the 2 audio channels in iMovie to get a nice mix of both the desk audio and the camera audio. Is this possible? Thanks. Phil.
