How to import videos to iphone/ipod touch camera roll?

Is there a way to import videos to camera roll? Like when you saving it from e-mail but I can't send big videos via e-mail. Or justcopy videos to DCIM folder on iphone/ipod but videos will replace photos. How do I import videos to camera roll?

put them in an album in iPhoto and then have that album sync to ur iPhone

No. I want to edit them and in iphoto they are in .avi. I don't need to have duplicates with different formats in iphoto.
