i pretty much know how to install a new hd, but im not sure. how do i transfer my OS and files to the new one? i was going to get a MBP, but ive decided to keep my current machine.

buy an external case and plug the new drive in it then use disk utility to do a restore (an exact copy of your current drive) and then install the new drive and boot er up. or you can put the new drive in install the os hook up the old drive in a case and do a migration assistant.

Nice post, krye!

CCC (or SuperDuper!) really is the best way to do that. With the external case and a new drive, you can be up and running again in no time.
