How to install Canon 10D digital SLR software?

This seems to be a popular rant - Canon only has updates on its site and I can't find the original disc for my EOS 10D digital camera.

What to do? My Mac Mini (latest model 2011) doesn't seem to recognise the camera when I plug it in to the USB port.

I don't think any Canon camera made in the past 5 or 6 years is accessible directly from the Finder in OS X. Try Image Capture.

Solution - open iPhoto first, and then the software recognises the camera. On my other Mac attaching the camera brought up the software automatically.

Problem solved - fortunately my son uses a Mac and is a bit savvy! One reason we have children.....

Canon's implementation of USB isn't that good either; it is very slow. I purchased a flash card reader for $4 from Fry's and it runs circles around the camera streaming data. AND it's fully accessible via finder.
