How to install Lion on second (SSD) drive in iMac?

I just ordered a refurb 2011 27" iMac with a 1tb drive. I am going to add an SSD drive as a second drive. I want to make the SSD the OS/boot drive. How do I install Lion on the SSD? Do I just clone it over and set the boot drive in Settings? Or does it need to be a fresh install because of the different drive type? If so, how do I install lion on it?
