I have an OS X DVD I would like to install on a Pismo (DVD drive does not work). Is there a way to put the contents of the OS X DVD on a firewire drive (or iPod) so that the machine will boot from that drive?

I have tried with Disk Utility and the machine does not recognoze the drive as bootable.

I know about that target mode solution, I am just wondering if there is another way to do this.

Thanks!
