I, somehow, got my Samsung M2070 to install drivers on my Intel running Monterey. It could legit scan natively, no craziness needed. (Printing is easy. *Scanning* is hard.)

Then I suddenly had to reinstall. Now I cannot figure out how to get the drivers back.

Please don't just say "I dunno, grab the drivers from the Samsung website." I've spent many frustrating hours uninstalling and reinstalling stuff I found on their website. I need the actual driver that actually works.

I have a backup of some files. I've got ~/Library/Printers/Samsung* files. I've got ~/Library/Application Support/Samsung/Samsung Easy Printer Manager. I've got ~/Library/Caches/com.Samsung.EasyPrinterManager. Can I just put these files back?

I'm not sure if the file in "caches" will help... (it's only a cache that gets re-created, I reckon)
But
You can try putting the "Samsung Easy Printer Manager" (is that a folder, rather than "a file") where it was (earlier) and see if that works.

Copying in the settings for "Samsung Easy Printer Manager" made that application *think* the printer was a scanner ... the scan options were there for a split second. But then I guess the app figured out that the OS doesn't think it's a scanner.

"Image Capture" relies on what the system thinks are printers, so that doesn't turn up either.

I looked some more through my backups and found I grabbed /System/Libraries/Printers. But that directory is exactly the same.

If you need to scan something urgently -- you could try out Hamrick softwares -- VueScan App. It has it's own drivers built in for various scanners.

+1 for VueScan.

What version driver do you have installed now? I see 3.93 here. Even if your model is not an M2070F, it might be worth trying.

Image Capture and Preview often work unless a specific driver is needed. Current Epsons a good example; one can install the driver and use the native apps, or one can install the Epson software (which includes the driver too). Once the driver is installed, Preview and Image Capture will often work as expected.

Glory be, this was it! I kept on looking on the HP website, but couldn't find this.

Thank you!
