i just recently got a macbook whilst my macbook pro is getting fixed in the hope that can get some work done during the time my mbp is away.

i have a exhd full of applications that i have downloaded over the past few years.

on my new macbook its running snow leopard but my old mbp it was running leopard.

so i check out my external hd and its seems that all my dmg files are now unix exec.

i did some digging and still couldnt come across a simple step by step procedure in how to make them run

now i realise this has been asked alot and the common answer is to use the terminal to change the name of the file but i cant for the life of me figure out how to do that.

so can anyone explain how i would chang them back to dmg files in the simplest way :D

Are you really sure that the former .dmg files now have another suffix?
If so, what is the suffix exactly?

Have you tried Finder to rename them?

Can you re-download some of those programs?
