Hi to everyone!
I have a macbook oro retina and I want to install windows on an external hard disk, and then run it from that hd.
This is te problem: when I try to install window on the hard disk, appears on the screen this error "Windows cannot be installed on this hard disk. Setup does not support configuration of or installation ti disks conneted through a USB or IEEE 1394 port"

What can I do?

Get Windows 8 and a thunderbolt drive and try to follow this thread? https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1508618/

IMO any of the other workarounds for W7 or earlier simply aren't worth it or won't work on the rMBP.

As another poster put it recently:

Making Windows transportable is not a design goal of Windows, in fact it really dislikes being moved around especially to different CPU families than what was used for the original installation.

Nothing else that is likely to work here.

You could always dedicate minimal internal space to Windows (e.g. 25 GB) and install documents and apps on the external. That will work.

Also, if you are not performance bound, consider a VM approach using Virtualbox, Parallels or VMWare.
