I am purchasing an iPod Touch, and want to Jailbreak it. I have looked at all kinds of tools, ZiPhone being my favorite, if it did not downgrade the boot loader. I am leaning towards iLiberty for mac, but I do not know how to install the Installer.app then.

If anyone can share their experiences and toughts about...

A) What all the terms like Boot Loader, Flashing, etc... mean?

B) What the best tool is that DOES Not downgrade the bootloader for good (can be reversed) that is easy and safe

C) Install the Installer.App

Thanks for any input. I am truly a newcomer to this, and am very confused.

Please Help!

the ipod touch doesn't have a bootloader(at least one that you have to mess with)

i would suggest using ziphone(ziphone.org)

use this to jailbreak your ipod touch and it will automatically put installer onto your device

So, I do not have to worry about downgrading the bootloader at all?

Ohh, I see. (or at least I think I see :) ) SInce you are only using software, and no carrier switching information, it doesn't need to mess with that?

correct.

There is also pwnage tool, but for one click, ziphone is your tool

Okay, so if I restore it, Apple will never know ? ;)

Thanks for all your help!

yep! Its amazing isn't it.

Though if for some reason you cant restore, you're screwed, but I have yet to see it happen

Thanks for all your help!

As another question, for 2.0, how fast will they be able unlock 2.0? I want to know wether to buy when 1.1.4 is out, and wait till 2.0, or get 2.0 and live with Apple's system for a bit.

Actually 2.0 is going to have an app store. So jailbreaking that would probably useless. Unless... you are not willing to fork up 10 bucks to pay for the new 2.0 firmware.

but if you want NES, of mobile finder, jailbreaking will be neccssary.

iliberty+ is way better than ziphone in terms of getting a clean jailbreak with less occurances of having to redo it because of problems.

Totally agree!! I've done it many times with ziphone, getting stuck and other problems.. Iliberty+ is what you should use.
