How to keep 0S 9 with Panther on a Tibook?

I have a friend with a Tibook that has the original install discs and no OS 9 disc. Can I re install original software and then somehow add Panther after this, keeping OS 9 on the computer? It's a 400 mhz CPU upgraded to 550mhz Titanium powerbook g4. THANKS

I'm pretty sure that you can just do a regular "Upgrade" install of Panther and OS 9 will be left intact. Just don't do a clean install.
