How to keep all of Photoshop in one window

Guys,
Photoshop is driving me crazy, I have just installed it on my iMac and I want to have photoshop on the left half of the screen and say mail/Safari in the other half of the screen, but for the life of me I cant do it........I know its possible as you can do it in a PC
Please someone help me out here
