On my series 0, as long as I had it on silent, I would never hear anything after making a Siri request.

I just got a series 5, and whenever I ask Siri to do something, specifically like set a reminder, she announces very loudly through the watch “ok” or “I’ll remind you” or whatever.

Anyone know how to keep her silent? I don’t want any sounds coming from my watch, especially that loud voice confirming my request.

Thanks.

Also, I’ve set it, within the Siri settings, to Control With Silent Mode in the Voice Feedback setting. I thought that would fix it but it hasn’t.

Your series 0 watch is probably running Watch OS5 and I assume your series 5 is running Watch OS7.. Siri has changed since OS5 and no longer is silent unless you disable Siri completely

If I disable Siri completely, can I still set things with my voice? I have noticed that I don’t actually have to say Hey Siri before I request something. Totally confusing all around.

the series 0 not talking has nothing to do with the version of watchOS, Siri on the watch wasn't able to talk until the series 3.

you don't have to disable siri,
you can make her not talk, even in the current versions of watch OS.
you need to enable silent mode, it's the bell icon in control center on the watch. You will also loose the dings with notifications. I'm pretty sure this will also kill the audible hour notifications. Everything will still vibrate though.

don't confuse silent mode with "do not disturb" (moon icon)
or theatre mode (comedy/tragedy masks) - although enabling this will also enable silent mode

This doesn't work. My watch is always on silent mode and when I ask Siri to do something such as "set a timer" she responds... They must a made a change along the way in some form

I have the same issue as the OP & I’m also running Watch OS 7. It just started to happen once I upgraded to 7. My same watch on OS 6 never had this issue.

It appears to be certain types of requests that get read out loud. Alarms are always read out loud. It Adding reminders seems to be read out loud as well. But things like adding new calendar invites, text messages, etc don’t get read out loud. I’ve tried every setting I can think of to modify this, but to no avail so far.
