I am thinking of installing Snow Leopard again (clean install) as I have some serious problems somewhere which I have not been able to track down and I don't have to time to do it anymore. And as there is no proper Archive & install feature on Snow Leopard, I thought of doing a clean install and migrating all my data and apps from the time machine backups (I don't want to migrate any settings or anything as the thing that's jamming up my MacBook is there somewhere most likely).
So, I would like my Time Machine backups to work as they've worked so far after the migration, but I am unsure if this is possible and if it is, do I need to do some special tricks to make it work. I do not want the new clean installation to wipe the whole Time Machine backup and start from scratch.
I also would like to be able to sync my iPhone with the new installation like before, without losing anything on the phone. This works just by replacing some iTunes directory with the old one apparently?
So if you've got any tips, I'm glad to hear them out.
Also things not to suggest:
- Reinstalling Snow Leopard (did it, didn't help).
- Replacing the HDD (did it, didn't help)
- Scanning for trojans (did it, nothing found)
