Obviously if you purchase a series 9 AW from Apple it won't have the blood oxygen sensor with it any longer but what about ones purchased from big box retailers like Target and Best Buy. These stores typically have retail stock that's older and has been sitting around longer. Is there a way to know if a device still has the blood oxygen sensor functioning or did an update disable them all?

You just have to check the website for BestBuy at least. There were tags next to the name of the watch if it has the blood oxygen sensor, not sure if Target or any others did the same thing.

"...The ability to measure Blood Oxygen is no longer available on Apple Watch units sold by Apple in the United States on or after January 18, 2024. These are indicated with part numbers ending in LW/A."
Sweet! So I found a new GPS series ending in LL/A! So now I have to decide between a Series 9 (GPS) with Blood Oxy sensor or a SS series 9 without the blood oxy...

Use google or search bestbuy for the exact model you want (changing the part # to LL) - many models seem to be available somewhere
