how to know the iphone you buying is notfake?

i live in Canada and and my carrier is fido

i don't want to buy it from the carier

if i buy it on-line or from a store how should i find out whether the iphone is fake or original

maybe my question is stupid but since before release of iphone4 at wwdc we had similar iphones from china that's why im a little bit concern

Buy it directly from apple. If you want an iPhone 4 without a plan it will be $599 USD. If you find one cheaper without a plan, it's a fake. Either way, just buy it from Apple.

purchase the phone directly from apple then go to the carrier or ask apple which carrier is associated with iPhone in Canada.

When I bought my iPhone 3GS from the apple store last year, they asked me if I wanted a Rogers or fido phone. I'm sure when the new one comes out they will have stock for all the carriers, so you will just have to ask for a fido one.
