I have been part of a chat group that originally was iMessage-only. A couple of years ago someone with an Android phone (🤮) was added to the group, and it turned green SMS. Now that iOS supports RCS, the group chat has turned into an RCS chat.

The question is, what I have to do to leave the chat, without deleting it from my chat history altogether. Is that even possible? I just did not see an option for doing that, when I tapped on the chat header. The only option was “Delete and Block this Conversation.” That does not sound like an option that would leave the chat in my chat history.

You don’t, basically. There’s no “centralized management” of text groups with mixed-in non-iMessage. It’s sort of like a bulk-email reply-all; if someone includes you… you’re gonna get it

I believe, I have witnesses an Android user unilaterally leaving such a group. It would seem to me that Apple could bring that capability to a future release of iOS.
