Is it possible to make a .gif out of flash? I saw this ad on a site and in it a guy is, well, groovin high (dancing) and I really wanted to use this as an avatar or whatnot.

Here's where i saw the ad:

It was an ad for GoToMyPc with a green background and a silhouette of the guy dancing

To make this easier, you may want to pause any animation (ctrl-click/right-click on the flash thingy and uncheck play). Then, take a screen shot. (shift-command-4, then space, then click). Then use Preview or whatever to crop and save.

If you mean an animated GIF, you'll need something a little heavier. Snapz Pro X can do that kind of thing easily, and you might have luck with QuickTime Pro export depending on the flash file.
