First post long time reader. Really stuck on this one... any help would be most welcome :)

AM looking to just increase only the size of my hard drive icon in the middle of my home screen. To fully cover the A4 chip on my wallpaper. Then a scroll to the right and weee there's the chip. The hd icon is a categories folder with 6 other folders in it containing everything I need, i like to be neat :)

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148a Safari/6533.18.5)

Try copying the icon to a computer, using a photo editing program to increase the size then ssh it back into the phone. I noticed that if I do not resize an icon for my 3GS then it comes out large, so this should work.

I tried that it doesnt work. The icon will appear way larger in programs like categories etc but on the actual springboard the icon will always be 114 i think... my guess is id need some kind of a css script to tell that specific icon to be allowed to remain its native size or something like that? Im pretty decent with html and css in websites but ive only had the phone for like a week and its a bit scary trying things haha :(

This is my current screen, still trying for that same icon lol

That's actually part of an icns set so no need to resize. Original goes to 512px. Here it is @128px.
EDIT: Also at 256px

Yeah I know but even if you put the large icon in as a folder it will be automatically downsized by...I assume catergories. The icon is a categories folder using that Apple icon. no matter what size I put it in as it shows up on the home screen as 114px

IS there a way to download the "Shrink" app and re code it to add a 150% feature. Then change the code so that instead of enlarging all of the icons it only enlarges a specified path folder? THen all id have to do is upload the icon at 256 so that at 150% if would see be retina hd quality etc lol. I wouldnt be able to do all that (I could try) but maybe someone out there can give me a quick yes or no as to if it would "actually" work :)

Thanks everyone

I am trying to do something similar with my iPhone. I would like to make a single image like the one shown above fill the entire folder on the springboard (instead of showing all the mini icons of the apps which are inside the folder) any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.

Custom Folder Icon on Springboard (Large)

I can make the icon appear larger on the Springboard, but it uses the same image (and the same size) for all folders (unless you use two different folder systems at the same time, like Categories).

Do you know if there is a way to change the icon for just one folder?

If we can figure that out then I think we can solve both our problems.

Also, I am not sure how to centre an icon on the Springboard. Any ideas?

Large Springboard Folder Icon

This is what I have managed to do so far. One large folder icon in the middle of my Springboard, with the dock hidden using a default WinterBoard theme.

I have also hidden the folder label because I cannot get it to display below the image (it was showing up on top of the image and it looked really bad).

If I could change the label padding so that it is displayed below the image, then I could label it as 'Applications'.

The only problem with this setup is that you can only have one folder because the method I have used will change the size of all folders (unless you use two different folder systems at the same time, like Categories).

If there is a way to change the icon of one specific folder, then this would no longer be a problem.

My progress so far

This is what I have managed to do so far.

I used a smaller image size on the SpringBoard so that the other folders in my file system were positioned properly on the grid (with the labels underneath).

It would be nice if you could have a larger (and different) icon for the main folder, and smaller icons for the sub-folders. Also, it would be nice if you could define which icons have opaque labels, and which have transparent ones.
