How to make laptop drive into iMac external backup

I have a Dell laptop with a broken screen. I dont think it is worth fixing. However is has a 20gb hard drive which works perfectly fine. I presume its a 2.5". Not sure of the connection.

Is there a way to utilise the HD and connect to my iMac so I can use it as backup for documents? Ideally it would connect via firewire.

You could get a usb 2.0/firewire caddy off ebay, put the HDD in and then you good to go
