iPhone XR How to make Mail open Word files in Word..?

When I get sent Word or Excel files in Mail and I tap the attachment, it immediately opens in some kind of preview mode that usually screws the formatting. To open with the correct app I have to tap the share icon and scroll along to Word/Excel etc. How can I make it so it opens with the correct program first..?

You can’t sadly, that’s how it works:

In Mail on iPhone, use Markup to write or draw on a photo, video, or PDF attachment.

The only potential way round it maybe using the Outlook App for your emails instead.

You can do it if you jailbreak. Otherwise, there's a rumor that iOS 15 will allow more selection of default apps.

Yes, it’s pretty crazy that when you want to open a MS Word document, the last app that iOS shows is MS Word!
