I have this situation on a MacBook Pro 15" (Late 2013) where the battery has been damaged by tea, so it's not charging any longer and it says "Replace Now" if I click the battery menu in the upper right corner. Also, the computer dies if I unplug the power adapter.

I've learned that a non-working battery will make the CPU and GPU run at lower clock speed by a quite significant margin. I tried to replace the battery asking Apple to fix it at an Apple Store, but after opening up the computer they didn't want to do it since they say other components than the battery got some tea on them too…

…to get to the point: I’m using the computer as a desktop (seems to work well and stable and I’ve been using it like this for months) and I of course want it to perform as well as it can. I found this article about deleting the .plist file corresponding to the MacBook Pro model being used, but I can’t find any file that matches the ”MacBookPro11,3” identifier that the model of the MacBook Pro I have has. There’s only up to ”MacBookPro8_3.plist” in that folder.

Any ideas on why the’s no newer plist files for MacBook Pro models later than 8,3? Has power management become different as of later models?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Edit:

Hmm… I found this:

However, the plist entries have not been added for newer models, e.g. the new MacBook Air or MacBook Pro (+retina). Therefore, if you follow the guide exactly you may run into problems such as your model identifier not being visible. After diagnosing this with others via email it would appear that the system uses another plist in the directory, therefore removing all of the plists has worked. I cannot comment further or prove this to be the case as I don’t have the available hardware. Let me know whether this works for you…..
